The Opposite of Love

traditional (often attributed in various forms)

It has been said that “the opposite of love is not hate—it is apathy.” Hate at least still engages. Apathy looks at need, at injustice, at the call of God, and simply shrugs. The church has rarely been destroyed by passionate opponents as quickly as by people who no longer care.

How you’d preach it

Strong for teaching on the danger of spiritual indifference. Works especially well alongside the letter to Laodicea or Jesus’ grief over Jerusalem.
