Most people do not leap out of faith in a single dramatic moment. They drift. The current is gentle. The change in position is almost imperceptible week to week. Only when they look up much later do they realize how far they have moved from the place where they once stood. The danger of apostasy is rarely the sudden storm; it is the unnoticed current.
How you’d preach it
Useful when warning about gradual spiritual erosion rather than dramatic public failure. The image is quiet and therefore more dangerous.
