Psalm 119
Analogy
Psalm 55 / biblical pattern
David wrote of a betrayal that hurt more because it came from someone close: “It is not an enemy who taunts me—then I could bear it… But it is you, a man, my equal, my companion, my familiar friend.” Distance makes certain wounds survivable. Proximity makes them cut deeper. The gospel does not minimize that pain; it meets it.
How you’d preach it
Sensitive territory. Use when teaching on forgiveness, loyalty, or the cost of love. Acknowledge the pain before moving to hope.
