Story
Matt Chandler (widely used sermon point)
Matt Chandler regularly warns against the common way of reading Old Testament stories: “You keep inserting yourself into the stories of the Bible like you’re the hero. You’re not David. Your trouble in life is not Goliath. And if that were true, you’d be in a lot of trouble — because you miss. You fling your stones and you miss, and Goliath is still standing.” The Bible is not primarily a collection of moral examples for us to imitate as the hero. It is the story of the true Hero, Jesus, who succeeds where every other “David” fails.
How you’d preach it
