Under the Broom Tree

1 Kings 19

After the triumph on Mount Carmel, Elijah fled from Jezebel, sat under a broom tree, and asked to die. The same prophet who had called down fire was now depleted and ready to quit. God did not lecture him. He let him sleep, fed him, and later spoke in a low whisper. Discouragement after intense ministry is not rare. The God who meets us in the victory also meets us under the tree.
