There are two major components to fishing. The first is catching the fish. The second is cleaning the fish. If someone catches a fish and never cleans and prepares it, the fish will eventually spoil. Many people have been taught a lot about “catching fish” (evangelism) but far less about “cleaning fish” (discipleship and spiritual formation). Jesus calls His followers both to fish for people and to make disciples — to care for new believers so they grow into maturity and do not waste away.
