Killer Soap

A father cleaned a used aquarium with soap before putting new goldfish in it. The fish died. An experienced friend identified the problem: soap is toxic to fish. The father’s intention was to help; the method killed what he meant to protect. In relationships and in ministry the same pattern appears—condemnation, nagging, or harsh correction used in the name of “helping.” The motive may be sincere. The effect can still be deadly. Gentleness is not optional care; it is part of what actually gives life.
