In Scripture the heart is the most comprehensive term for the authentic person. It is the place where we desire, deliberate, and decide. It has been described as the center of a person—the place to which God turns. When the Bible speaks of the heart, it is rarely talking only about feelings. It is talking about the core from which the whole life flows.
