Things That Hinder Ready Obedience

Luke 12:35-40 – The Watchful Servants

Jesus’ picture of the robe that needs to be girded raises a searching question: Is there anything right now that is getting in the way of ready and immediate obedience? These are often not the obvious sins. They can be good gifts we hold too tightly: - Finances and possessions - Relationships and family - Busyness, school, work - Retirement plans or future security - Reputation or comfort The better question is not simply “Is this sinful?” but “Has this begun to trip me up so that I cannot move quickly when Jesus calls?”
