Not Today

Peter Sellers anecdote (Today in the Word)

Actor Peter Sellers played so many roles that he sometimes seemed unsure of his own identity. When a fan asked, “Are you Peter Sellers?” he answered, “Not today,” and walked on. The story is extreme, but the pressure is familiar. When life becomes a series of performances, the question “Who am I when no one is watching?” can become hard to answer.

How you’d preach it

For the danger of living so many roles that the self becomes unclear.
