Story
December 22 – Joy for All (Luke 1)
Mary’s circumstances were anything but easy. She was a virgin pledged to be married, now pregnant, and the child was not Joseph’s. Gossip was almost certain. Her relationship with Joseph, with family, and with the community would have been under strain. Yet after the angel’s announcement she sings: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour…” Mary did not wait for her circumstances to improve before she rejoiced. Her joy was rooted in who God is and what He was doing, not in how comfortable her life felt at the moment.
How you’d preach it
