Pascal spoke of a “God-shaped vacuum” in every person. Moral systems can restrain behavior and even produce impressive virtue. They cannot by themselves satisfy the deeper ache for meaning, forgiveness, and relationship with the One for whom we were made. Morality matters; it is not the full gospel.
