Catherine Booth anecdote (Campbell Morgan)
After a meeting in which Catherine Booth had preached to a crowd of “publicans and sinners,” her hostess said the faces opposite her had been so terrible she doubted she would sleep. Mrs. Booth asked if she knew them. “Certainly not,” the woman replied. “Well, that is interesting,” said Mrs. Booth. “I did not bring them with me from London; they are your neighbors.” The story still lands. It is easier to feel for the distant needy than to recognize the ones next door.
