Fear, helplessness, depression, anxiety, and worry are all pain triggers. While we might comfort ourselves that each of these is “just a feeling,” they frequently amplify physical and emotional distress. Naming the triggers is part of learning to bring the whole self—body and mind—to the God who is present in the pain.
