Imagine a pirate on a pirate ship. However hard or lazily he works, however kind or selfish he is toward others, it does not really matter—he is still a pirate on a pirate ship. The illustration clarifies that moral improvement inside the wrong allegiance is not the same as transfer into the kingdom of Christ. The decisive issue is whose ship we are on.
