Power and Those Who Leave

David Livermore citing Henri Nouwen

Nouwen pointed to “power as one of the great causes of so many people having left the church.” One of the great ironies of the history of Christianity is that its leaders often consider power legitimate while the gospel itself relativizes it. The way power is held and used either attracts or repels.
