The One Necessary Thing

Luke 10:41-42 (Mary and Martha)

Jesus told Martha that she was anxious and troubled about many things, but that one thing was necessary. Mary had chosen the better portion. The point is not that practical work is wrong. It is that presence with Him must not be displaced by the urgency of everything else. The one necessary thing orders the rest.

How you’d preach it

Busyness can crowd out the better portion. Clarity about the one thing protects the many things.
