Luke 9:10-17 – Feeding of the 5000 (June 5)
When we need something important — a product, a service, a place to stay — most of us check the reviews first. We want evidence that it works, that others have been satisfied, that it’s trustworthy. In the feeding of the 5000, the disciples are faced with a massive need and almost no resources. Jesus asks them to trust Him with the need anyway. The interesting thing is that many of us find it easier to trust Jesus with other people’s needs than with our own. We can believe He’ll provide for someone else… but when the need is personal and close, the reviews suddenly feel insufficient.
How you’d preach it
Helpful modern analogy for the gap between theoretical trust and actual trust when the need is our own.
