Self-Help Section at the Book Sale
June 29 – Micah 5:1-6 – One More Thing
I was walking through a book sale and found myself standing in front of the self-help section. Row after row of titles promising the secret to a better life, more success, more peace, more control — if you just follow these steps, try harder, optimize better, become a better version of yourself. It struck me how exhausted that section looked. So many voices offering “one more thing” you need to do. Micah 5 points us instead to the One who is already enough — the Messiah from Bethlehem who is our peace.
How you’d preach it
Gentle, slightly humorous observation that exposes the emptiness of self-reliance and points toward the finished work of Christ.
