Some cultures are “tight”—high in uncertainty avoidance, preferring clear rules and predictable outcomes. Others are “loose,” more comfortable with ambiguity and multiple right ways. Cross-cultural friction often arises when tight and loose expectations collide without either side realizing the deeper value difference underneath the surface conflict.
How you’d preach it
Some cultures prioritize order and predictability; others tolerate more ambiguity. Neither is automatically superior.
