Because You’re My Dad

Tim Hansel, Holy Sweat

Tim Hansel tells of climbing with his young son Zac when a voice from above yelled, “Hey Dad! Catch me!” Zac had already jumped. Hansel caught him and both went down. When he could speak, he asked why. Zac answered with calm certainty: “Because you’re my Dad.” His whole assurance rested on the trustworthiness of his father. The Christian life, at its heart, runs on the same logic. We act because of who He is.

How you’d preach it

Childlike trust that jumps because the father is trustworthy. The assurance is in the character of the one trusted.
