Luke 10
Story
Traditional (old mariner’s chart / Sir John Franklin)
An old mariner’s chart of the North American coast marked unexplored regions with warnings: “Here be giants,” “Here be fiery scorpions,” “Here be dragons.” When the chart came into the possession of explorer Sir John Franklin, he scratched out the fearful inscriptions and wrote across the map: “HERE IS GOD.” The unknown remains. The label changes. Fear sees threats in the blank spaces. Faith sees the presence of God already there.
How you’d preach it
Fear fills the unexplored with monsters. Faith writes a different label over the same space.
