Micah 3
Analogy
June 8 – Micah 3 – Listen Up Leaders
Veruca Salt (from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) is a child from a family of great wealth and power. She knows it and uses it. She forces people to do what she wants. Her father will pay for anything, get her out of trouble when she destroys things, and protect her from consequences. She acts as though the rules do not apply to her and that she can simply lean on her daddy to make everything work out. Micah confronts leaders who had a similar posture — they “lean on the Lord” and say “Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us,” while living in clear disobedience and injustice.
How you’d preach it
Memorable cultural reference for false security and entitled leadership that expects God’s protection without obedience.
