How Sick I Really Was
Today in the Word, July 1990
A wealthy man on his deathbed promised the church a million dollars if God healed him. He recovered. Months later the pastor gently reminded him of the promise. “Did I say that?” the man asked. “I guess that goes to show how sick I really was!” The humor is thin. Crisis can produce generous intentions that health quietly cancels. Integrity includes keeping the word spoken when we were afraid.
