Story
The Din of Voices
Rockford College youth ministry experiment
In an experiment with future youth workers, a blindfolded volunteer was told he could do anything he wished. The audience was instructed to shout individual tasks at him. One person was given a vital message to communicate. When the volunteer returned, the room exploded in competing shouts. The vital message was lost in the din. The volunteer stood paralyzed by confusion. The point was deliberate: young people live in a crowd of voices. The gospel must be spoken with enough clarity and consistency to be distinguished from the noise.
How you’d preach it
Young people are surrounded by competing instructions. A clear, consistent gospel voice must cut through the noise.
