Genesis 4:1–16
Cain’s offering is not received and his face falls. The Lord warns him: sin is crouching. Envy is not a small heat. It is a predator at the door. Cain does not master it. He takes his brother into the field. The first murder in Scripture is a worship problem that would not be told no. Abel’s blood cries. God still marks Cain with a mercy he did not ask for.
