Asleep in the boat
Mark 4:35–41
The squall is real, the boat is filling, and Jesus is asleep on a cushion. The disciples do not ask a calm theological question. They wake him with “do you not care?” He stills the weather and then asks about their faith. Mark wants both: a Lord who can sleep through what terrifies us, and a Lord who does not shame the cry. The storm is not a metaphor they imagined. The sleep is the scandal.
How you’d preach it
Let them keep the accusation. Some prayer is rude and still reaches him. Then ask what kind of man this is — the question Mark leaves in the boat.
