From a jail in Birmingham, King wrote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” We are, he said, “caught in an inescapable network of mutuality.” He was answering clergymen who wanted delay. The letter is not a slogan kit. It is a pastor arguing that waiting is itself a decision, usually made by people who do not pay the cost of the wait.
How you’d preach it
Use when the text is about neighbor, delay, or a church that prefers order to justice. Do not sand it into civility. He wrote it in a cell.
