The seats no one wanted
Luke 14:1–24
Luke 14 opens at a Pharisee’s table where guests are eyeing the good chairs. Jesus tells them to take the lowest place, then tells the host to invite the people who cannot pay him back. Then a parable: a great banquet, excuses about land and oxen and a wedding, and a master who sends servants into the streets for the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame. The kingdom meal is not a networking lunch. It is a table that humiliates our guest list.
How you’d preach it
Name the excuses in this congregation — calendar, property, family as a shield. Then name who is still not on the list. Luke 14 is about honor, not catering.
