Story
The teacher who came at night
John 3:1–21; John 19:38–42
Nicodemus has credentials and a question he will only ask in the dark. Jesus will not give him a seminar. He gives him birth, wind, and a serpent lifted up. The new life is not an upgrade to his résumé. It is something he cannot manage. John lets him linger: he appears later with spices, no longer only a night visitor. Some faith begins as a cautious conversation and ends carrying weight to a tomb.
How you’d preach it
Use for people who want information without being born. Honor the night visit. Do not mock caution. Then refuse to let “born again” become a slogan.
