A sound like a mighty wind
Acts 2:1–13
Acts does not give the Spirit as a private mood. There is a sound like wind, tongues like fire, and a street full of languages. The first gift is not ecstasy for its own sake. It is speech that other people can understand — the nations hearing the mighty works of God in their own tongue. Pentecost reverses Babel without erasing difference. The wind fills the house, then spills into the city.
How you’d preach it
Refuse a Spirit who only improves our quiet times. Ask what language this church still will not speak, and who is standing outside the door.
