The rooster that told the truth

Luke 22:54–62; John 21:15–19

Peter has a sword and a speech. By dawn he has a rooster. The bird is not in the story for color. It is a clock that will not let him rewrite the night. Jesus had named the failure in advance, and then looked at him. Luke says Peter went out and wept. Restoration will come over breakfast, but the rooster has to crow first. Some of us need a sound that ends the performance.

How you’d preach it

Use when the text is about failure in people who thought they were the strong ones. The rooster is mercy that will not flatter.
