Ruth gleans behind the reapers because the law left corners for the foreigner and the widow. Boaz notices, then goes beyond noticing. The story is ordinary fields and extraordinary hesed — kindness that keeps covenant when it would be easier not to. A Moabite ends up in David’s line, which means the leftovers of obedience become the ancestry of a king.
How you’d preach it
Preach the corners of the field. Ask what this church leaves for people with no claim on them, and whether kindness here has a last name.
