Metaphor
John 15:1–11
I am the vine, you are the branches. The branch does not grunt fruit into existence. It remains. Apart from me you can do nothing is not an insult. It is botany. Churches full of effort and empty of remaining will know the difference by the withering. Abiding is not mood music. It is the only way anything living gets from the root to the table.
How you’d preach it
Use when the room is tired of producing. Remain is a verb you can preach without a program. Pruning belongs in the sermon too.
